Started my pre-op optifast diet Sunday 5th Nov. My surgery is booked for Thursday 24th Nov so I have given myself just over 2 weeks. I would really love to lose 5kg in that time, mainly because I have put on 5kg in the last 6 weeks since booking my surgery (don't ask!!).
If I could at least be where I started 6 weeks ago I shall be happy. My surgeon did not say I needed to do the optifast as I was not over 130kg (which is what he says is the requirement) but as I have been pigging out the last 6 weeks on whatever I think I shall be missing out on, I figure it is better to be safe than sorry. I would kick myself if he wasn't able to do the surgery due to a fatty liver.
Anyway, how have I been going so far? I would have to say it hasn't been too bad actually. Thank god I can have vegies/soup for lunch and dinner. They have been a lifesaver.
So far my eating has been:
Morning: Optifast shake
Lunch: Optifast bar
Small bowl of vegie soup (homemade)
Dinner: Optifast Soup/Optifast Dessert
Small bowl of steamed vegies
I have also seen another blog where they suggested having 2 metamucil tabs with a glass of water mid morning and mid afternoon to help with the hunger. I must say I have done that and it really does work.
I have taken some photos so shall upload them on the weekend (if I can work out how).
Don't know how I will go over the next 2 weeks but I am looking at this as my new life and a new beginning. Can't wait for my surgery
Sharon
